Sheepskin Care & Cleaning
Sheepskin products need care and attention to remain at their best.
To keep sheepskin/seat covers clean we recommend you gently vacuum them on a regular basis. To help remove odours and freshen sheepskin, rub talcum powder into the skin, let sit and then vacuum clean. To maintain a fluffy appearance and feel to your sheepskin, carefully brush with a stiff-bristled brush.
Your sheepskin seat covers/products can be dry cleaned or hand/machine washed. Dry cleaning is a desirable method as sheepskin if not washed and dried correctly may shrink or become stiff.
If you do wash your sheepskin seat covers/products, shake out as much dust as possible and use a quality sheepskin or wool wash liquid in cold water on a wool or gentle cycle in your washing machine and spin dry on low speed. Dry your sheepskin in a cool place inside over a few days and not outside or in sunlight. The slower the drying the softer the wool/pelt on your sheepskin will be. When dry, brush with a stiff bristled brush to fluff up again.
If sheepskin is only slightly soiled, sponge with a damp cloth, towel dry then air thoroughly. Pet rugs can be cleaned and sprayed with flea control products.

Things to avoid when cleaning sheepskin are:
- Hot water - this causes permanent damage by stripping natural oils, (lanolin) from the pelt making it hard and rough.
- Washing powders or detergents - anything with an enzyme in it used in normal laundry practices.
- Drying quickly using heat - This will damage and harden the soft pelt, exposure to heat or tumble drying can damage the product.
- Soaking in water - never soak sheepskin in water any longer than absolutely necessary.
